Sitio Capim Seco is under the ownership and management of Rafael Dias Pereira, who comes from a lineage of coffee producers. His grandparents, Isidro and Nazareth Pereira, were among the pioneers in coffee production in the area. Rafael's mother and aunt also own the nearby Fazenda Irmăs Pereira.
Rafael's interests lie in his family, horses, and specialty coffee. His passion for horses led him to venture into managing farms. Prior to becoming a coffee producer, he successfully established a horse farm where he bred Brazilian Mangalarga Marchadors, a popular horse-racing breed. With the profits from his equestrian endeavor, he decided to invest in coffee, a shared passion within his family.
Since his first harvest in 2007, Rafael has consistently achieved high cup scores for his coffee lots. According to Rafael, coffee has always been the binding force within his family, connecting generations from the past to the present. To honor its influence and history, he emphasizes the importance of maintaining the hard work and dedication required to consistently produce the finest coffees possible.
Due to the relatively small size of Sitio Capim Seco (35 hectares of coffee, which is considered large in most parts of the world but small in Brazil), Rafael utilizes the equipment and facilities at Fazenda Irmăs Pereira for coffee processing.
